To those who oppose marriage for any two persons who wish to be married, I ask simply:
Is marriage important, yes or no?
Do you think marriage helps children who are being raised, yes or no?
Do you think it hurts people (legally, socially, emotionally or financially) not to be married if they want to be married, yes or no?
How specifically could gay and lesbian marriage damage your marriage?
Isn’t America about equality?

Upon reflection I would have left out the ‘how damage your marriage’ question. Claiming that letting gay men or lesbians marry damages marriage is so bogus and ridiculous it shouldn’t be dignified with a question.
Bogus and ridiculous, yes, and yet, I’ve spent most of my adult life wondering what an answer to that question could POSSIBLY be. As you have, I’ve asked, and I’ve never gotten an answer, either. You know why not? There isn’t a valid one.
