What Did He Mean line of the night

“Alabama is not built to come from behind, but they don’t have to.”

Daryl “Moose” Johnston, Fox broadcaster during the Sugar Bowl. The score at the time he made this comment was Utah 21 Alabama 0. So I guess Moose meant they (Alabama) didn’t have to come from behind unless they wanted to win the game.

  1. PAC-10 is 5-0 in bowls, Utah spanks the mighty Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl. When will the East Coast biased sports media wakeup? If Texas beats OSU, and OK beats Florida, shouldn’t Texas be considered the National Champion? Oops, USC and Utah, I forgot, not.

    B(ullS)CS my ass.

  2. One of the biggest (and most superficial) arguments in favor of the BCS system is that it preserves the tradition of the bowl games.

What a load of crap. As if I reminisce about watching the GMAC bowl with Gramps every January 6 when I was a lad. Or anticipating the Meineke Car Care Bowl

    Puleeeeese!

The TV Networks (particulary the ABC/ESPN juggernaut) have all but ruined post-season college football. Oh, except for Division II and Division III, who decide their champions through a playoff system, leaving it up to the teams to determine.

The networks have spread the bowl season out over such a long time and now there are so many that they have little meaning to anyone but the teams playing in them. Imagine a 6-6 team (Kentucky) playing in a January bowl game!
