1. Billie
2. Babe Ruth. Generally I’d say I liked DiMaggio’s style of play better, understated, smooth, but he seemed like he had a stick up his rear.
3. Washington
4. Letterman
5. Who?
6. Elizabeth I. Way better wardrobe. But if I had another choice, Victoria. I’d like to have been the grandmother of just about every crowned head in Europe at the turn of the century.
7. Cary Grant. I went to Bryn Mawr. We watched The Philadelphia Story all the time. It would be treason not to pick Cary.
8. Indistinguishable
9. State
10. Dylan. He’s still alive.
11. Gates. He hasn’t had as big an impact on style, but through his foundation, I think he’s doing good work in the world with all that money. (And he’s still alive, too).
12. Hemingway
13. Katharine Hepburn (see 7).
14. Eve
15. Eleanor Roosevelt
16. Lee. The North barely remembers Grant the victor, while Lee is revered in the South to this day.
17. Edison. Talk about directly impacting everyone!
18. Marianne. At that age, extravagant passion is a rite of passage.
19. Paul, I think.
20. Charlie Brown. He can grow up, and things could get better. Dilbert is stuck.
