Did a search and can’t find you….scanned Avelino’s circles and didn’t find you there either. Are you hiding your profile?
I’m Karen Fayeth on G+
It’s too complicated. Who’s a friend and who’s an acquaintance?
Looks like we are all circled up now!
Yeah, I’m having a hard time getting used to it. Though I do like the concept of circles so you can filter down what you see and who you publish to.
Who’s your buddy? Who’s your pal? Who bought you Puligny-Montrachet and then drank most of it himself? Oh, wait: forget that last part. Who’s your buddy?
I think it is a lot like Facebook, and in some ways a lot like Twitter (you can follow somebody without the relationship being reciprocal). I also think it’s more refined than Facebook, i.e., they were able to learn from all those social networks that came before.
And as for circles, I think you’re asking the wrong people, or the wrong question. Dump those default circles and make some that make sense for you. Of all the social networks that have come out, this is the only one that really lets you filter content the way you want.
So I could have circles for Family, Friends, Internet Friends I’ve Actually Met, Internet Friends Who’ve Bought Me Dinner w/Wine, Co-Workers (former in my retired case), Grandchildren with Computer Privileges (The Sweeties Circle), Spam and Porn Friends (like on Twitter), Friends Who Post Too Much (the ones I hide on Facebook), and who knows?
Yep! And while the Stream itself would be full of those posts, it’s as easy as clicking a Circle on the left to filter down to just the stuff you want to see. And when you’re sharing information that you don’t want The Sweeties to see, you can do that easily.
Maybe you should have bought the Côte-Rôtie.
I joined it several days ago. I like the concept of circles that you can publish to without everyone seeing it. Some say it will pretty much replace all the other social networks before long. Time will tell.
Just started following you.
