Idle thought

I am considering moving most of my “linkage” posts to Twitter. The longer stuff (which has become less frequent I admit) would still be posted here.

Any reaction? Anyone care?

  1. I also don’t use Twitter, nor do I really even know how. But, as John said, you’re the blogger. Do what works for you.

  2. I am an active Twitter user, and I would say no, because your comments, even on your links-only posts, would be unduly shortened in the 140-character cage. You tend not to post items such as “Hmm. O RLY? bit.ly/7ggh”. Your work tends to be a bit more expansive than that.

  3. Whatever I do, I want to say, on the record, that I ignored Twitter for some time, even after experimenting with it. Only recently have I given it another look, and I have grown to appreciate it — a lot. On the night of bin Laden’s killing, for example, it was just amazing.

The key, of course, is selecting whom to follow.

  4. I really enjoy reading your posts. I would miss them a lot if you only used twitter.

  5. I agree with Jill’s idea, but I should also say that I don’t use Twitter and am not interested in getting started there. I would miss reading your posts.

  6. Call me old-fashioned but I’d prefer to see the links on the blog. Twitter crashes too often for my taste, and overall it’s too much of a hassle going through another service to read something.

  7. I say go for the best of both worlds: I know you’re conscious of your design choices here, but there are many a WordPress plugin that will post your recent tweet(s) in the sidebar.

  8. As you know, I do both and sometimes click from Twitter (when at work and only have my Iphone) but mostly come in from my laptop as it’s easier to read than on that little phone screen.

Sometimes you feel like a nut (140 characters); sometimes you don’t (readin’ the whole danged article that was long as heck!).

    🙂
Besides… I love me some Andy Borowitz and NewMexiken!!
