Security was cursory getting into the ballpark yesterday, mostly to see if I had contraband food and drinks. I could easily have walked in with a handgun.
And then I thought, “Shit, this is Arizona, it’s assumed I have a handgun.”

Ha, ha, ha. Very funny.
Actually, I do not know a single person who carries a gun here in the great state of Arizona. Most people I know do not even own a gun.
It is interesting that, according to The Daily Beast, New Mexico had almost twice as many NICS background checks between 12/08 and 5/10 per 100,000 residents: 13,408 ranking them 21st (7,510 in Arizona/ranked 41st).
Likewise, The Washington Post reported New Mexicans had more households with guns and more guns in those households.
So, quit trying to smuggle your own bottle of tap water into the baseball game. 🙄
What, you came to Arizona without a handgun?! ;-O
Despite what John said, I know quite a few Arizonans who have guns, and some who even carry. In fact, numerous people have told me that between the snakes, the wild cats, and the illegals, I’m crazy NOT to carry a gun when I’m out in the desert. (Personally, I’m more afraid of the Border Patrol and their abuses, but that’s another issue.) I shudder to think how my horses would react if I shot off a gun while riding them. No doubt, I’d be on the ground a split second later, laying there with a broken back, easy prey for the snake or wild cat I was shooting at. 😉
Regardless of the perceived risks, I do not carry a gun, nor do I own one, though Kenny keeps a shotgun handy to scare off the javelinas who regularly rummage through our yard and terrorize our dog. (I don’t use it, I just chase them off with a loud voice, but to each his own.)
