I own all the Beatles studio tracks on CD, so the announcement today that the iTunes Store has The Beatles is of little consequence to me. But, at least at this writing, I love the photo at Apple.com.
You can buy the thirteen albums and the two Past Masters albums and more as a box set from iTunes for $149.
Of course, you can get the The Beatles Stereo Box Set in real CDs for $129.99 from Amazon.
Dammit, there is just so much to love about that photo: the white/dark balance, the fact that they look supremely confident but not intimidating, the unity/variety of their outfits and hair. This is the kind of shot, more than any music, that makes me want to be in a band. I assume that they were all dressing themselves at this point in their career.
I can’t tell whether this was an actual single photo, or whether it’s a composite. The way their bodies are positioned: John’s right elbow over Paul’s left arm, Paul’s right arm over George’s left.
