Will it be two?

Only three major league franchises (of 30) have never been to a World Series. One of them, the Texas Rangers play the Yankees tonight in the first game of the American League Championship Series. Can the Rangers take the ALCS and advance to their first World Series?

Washington Senators/Texas Rangers (50 seasons)

Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals (42 seasons)

Seattle (Washington) Mariners (34 seasons)

What is it with franchises associated with Washington anyway?

  1. You would think that there is something in the water in Washington D.C. that quickly leads one to become dysfunctional. It was certainly not one of the brighter ideas from our Founding Fathers, “Hey Guys, Let’s build our Nations’ Capital in the middle of a swamp!”

  2. Today I am a Rangers fan. I oh so very much want them to smack down the Yankees and go on to the series. Not only because I dislike the Yankees with a deep intensity, but also because Bengie Monlina, formerly of the Giants, is behind the plate (mostly..he’s backup catcher) and hitting the long ball.

    Go Bengie!!!!
