Here in Iowa, agriculture still trumps regulation. Factory farms use the popular image of a “farm” to their advantage while reaping government subsidies that were pushed through by agribiz lobbies under the guise of helping family farms. Unfortunately, Vilsack is part of the mess, though he probably thinks all the money he’s accepted from agribiz over the years doesn’t affect his judgement.
