Emily, official younger daughter of NewMexiKen, is coaching an 8-and-under softball team this spring. None of the girls had ever played before. They struggled during the regular season — I saw a couple of their early games — all losses and mostly strikeouts — but they got better.
This week the girls entered the championship tournament as the third place team — out of four — but they’ve won all three of their games and go into Saturday in the winner’s bracket. The other remaining team will have to beat them twice.
Go Lime Turtles!
That’s the coach with her daughter, Sweetie Kiley.

Go, you Lime Turtles, you! Get busy!!
What is that Easton bat made of? GOOOO Turts!
All the best to you, Lime Turtles!! Way to go…. Yipee!
Very nice photo, too, Auntie Jill.
Turtles! Turtles! That’s our team!
Into the finals! Livin’ the dream!
Go Turtles!
The Lime Turtles lost the first game but won the second and are league champions!
Yay Turtles! Way to terrapants off of the other team!
From what I hear, the coach of the opposing team was ready to do everything possible – rules be damned – to win the championship. The Lime Turtles foiled her and proved that karma has its place even in sports.
I’m so glad I am a Lime Green Turtles fan!!!!!! Congrats Emily and company.
Where we can we get officially licensed Lime Green Turtle apparel?
I think Kiley could probably create some Lime Green Turtle apparel for you. She’s pretty creative. 🙂
Both games finished at 12-10. Luckily, the second game was in our favor! The Pink Penguin coach wasn’t very pleased and lost her cool on the field more than once. Ugh.
Our own sweetie played very well, even after waking before 6 am and swimming two events before the game. She has a great glove and is one of the fastest girls out there. It’ll be fun to see her grow and become a great player. 🙂
Thanks for all your kind words and cheers.
