“It’s all about making adjustments out there. You’ve gotta go out there and you’ve got to read the swings and the last few games they’ve been sitting on fastballs away and if they’re going to continue to do that, then they better get ready to back off the plate and they better get ready for some stuff up there to keep them off-balance.”
Steven Strasburg
You think there’s a batter in the National League that won’t have some doubt the next time he faces that 100 mph Strasburg fastball?
Funny thing…the Giants faced Strausberg yesterday so I finally had the chance to watch him. While the Nats beat the Giants, I wasn’t over the moon impressed with Stausberg. My feeble Giants team got quite a few hits on him including a Torres shot over the wall to start the game. The kids good but not invincible.
He’s a good young pitcher with a LOT of talent but he’s still pretty green. I watched him make some rookie mistakes and also…he was taken out of the game after five innings?
Weird. I think the kid’s got a very bright future but I also think he needs a bit more time in the frying pan to season up.
Also, he needs to be careful with 1) the swagger talk and 2) throwing up and in. He is still a rookie and pitchers do still have to bat in the NL.
Well, Cy Young lost 316 games, so no one is invincible.
