Any word how much that’s going to set a person back? I’m considering something portable….
$499, $599 or $699 depending on storage (16, 32 or 64 GB) for the wireless only versions.
$629, $729 or $829 depending on storage for the wireless + 3G versions.
A couple hundred thousand have been pre-ordered.
It’s 9½ by 7½ by ½ inch and weighs 1.5 or 1.6 (3G) pounds.
It requires a PC or Mac (to load software, music, etc.).
It’s awfully big for an iPhone that doesn’t make calls. And since it won’t play flash it doesn’t really need a big screen. I’m just sayin’.
And no camera either.
It’s really just a big iPod touch.
If it’s anything like the iPhone it’s likely to come waaaaaay down in price after the gotta-have-one-now crowd is finished buying theirs.
The other day I used my Netbook (instead of my iPhone). For the first time in about three months. I opened it, booted it up, and started dragging my finger around on the screen.
Why won’t it work???

I’ll end up with an iPad eventually, but I’ll definitely wait a while before I even think about buying one. A year at the very least.
We are known as the gadget household around here. This is one device that we are going to skip completely. I don’t like my gadgets to come with handcuffs. Especially not at that price. IMHO, Apple is milking its customers a bit too hard lately. If they are not careful they are going to rip off the udder …
