“Have we all paid for our sins for the wardrobe malfunction in 2004?”
Toni Monkovic, The Fifth Down Blog.
McCartney (62), The Rolling Stones (Jagger and Richards were 62), Prince, Tom Petty (48), Bruce Springsteen (59), Half of The Who (64 and 65). Can’t we have someone younger? How about a marching band just for a change of pace?
But not Carrie Underwood who sang the single worst rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” ever.
I was also wondering what was up with the dinosaur band. How about a band from this century.
I beg to differ with you. Rosanne Barr sang the worst rendetion ever.
In the early 1970s when the Who was at their peak, the halftime show included entertainers such as Carol Channing, Woody Herman, Al Hirt, Louis Armstrong, and etc.
It appears that the superbowl booking staff are always just a tad behind the times. Maybe someday when you’re an old fart, you’ll get the bands that are hot now.
At least the Who didn’t perform “My Operation.”
I think it would have been funny if one of the young, hireling musicians had smashed up his guitar while Pete and Roger watched.
I agree as regards Carrie Underwood. Because Roseanne Barr MEANT to suck.
Good point, Elise.
They didn’t get their act together with the sound until The Who came out. Both Queen Latifah and Carrie Underwood sounded terrible because they couldn’t hear themselves. I have an equalizer and it was going nuts trying to figure out the sound. One would think they would have their act together around this kind of production.
The sound sucked.
Carrie, Latifah and The Who… maybe not. We’ll never know. (Actually, I wish Jay Z, or someone like that, would have performed. That was a very long potty break… as a result of The Who [cares]!)
