It’s interesting that Richard Nixon never won the Peace Prize. Certainly, his opening of relations with China and detente with the Soviet Union would, on their own, merit such an award. I guess maybe the committee would have been embarrassed to give the Peace Prize to someone who had just reigned office in disgrace. Also, there was the matter of carpet bombing North Vietnam…
Still, in the long term, Nixon did an awful lot for world peace, even if he did a lot awful.
