It’s called the crown line. You hold the balloon down until they “go hot.” As the air inside the envelope warms, the balloon wants to stand up. The person on the crown line tries to keep the balloon from rolling side-to-side or standing up too fast. Or worse, standing up too fast and falling right on over on top of the basket, the crew, the truck, the trailer and a handful of tourists.
