One very cool place I once swam was at Xcaret in the Yucatán. There was an underground river that seemed to go for miles, with a water flow strong enough to carry you along through the natural tunnels without having to swim very hard at all. There were holes in the ceiling every so often, allowing natural light to filter down to illuminate the way and make the water sparkle. It was pretty remarkable. I have heard of a similar lava tube running miles across Oahu, but I haven’t been there myself, although I was in a smaller one on the Big Island.
My wife and I spent nine years on Guam, one of our favorite places to visit was Palau(Belau). The diving was spectacular, the people were great, and in those days they sold joints ay many of the Mom and Pop stores.
