  1. Health insurance lobbyists and PR have been trying hard to kill reforms for obvious reasons, and they’ve been greasing politician’s palms for years. A big clue is that whatever is bad for health insurance corporations is good for the public.

Note: BCBS has raised their rates some 20% again this year. They have been doing this for years. The whole industry is way out of step with inflation, and given time, they will destroy the economy just like the Wall Street bankers.

As for the rank and file republicans:

    1. They are strictly against socialistic ideas, even when they are beneficial to the public. What’s the opposite, anti-social? Yeah, that’s them.

    2. They are for the free market, believing the medical industry will do the right thing. Not believing that corporations have no conscience. They answer to no one but the shareholders. There is a moral/ethical disconnect.

    3. They will do whatever they can to damage and destroy Obama’s presidency. I believe they’ll even commit political suicide in order to do so.

    4. Right wingers just love to scare the crap out of the public because it works. It’s a sign of desperation. If they can’t convince you with facts, then they’ll lie like rugs.

  2. Because too much money is to be made by Lobbyists, Businesses like HMOS and Pharmacies, etc. Politians have held hands with healthcare for far too long and have no intentions of letting go. Anarchy will occur if they let go.

  3. All of the above, of course. It doesn’t help that they are mostly from the generation when Winning Through Fear & Intimidation was a best-seller. They’ve done it so long, they just naturally think that way–that you control people by keeping them afraid. They’re frightfully good at it.
