Um. Now look, I love Vin, he’s a legend in the game. But I’ve listened to him recently. I would say that quote maybe was true “back in the day”, but not so much now.
During an Angels vs Dodgers game, he was commenting on the particular way the flags were flapping in the wind. This while the game was going on below. I actually yelled at the television.
Well, it’s still a good line, but I am sorry to hear that Vinny is wavering. I’ve tried to tune him in, but haven’t succeeded. I’ll triy harder and see what I think.
I was listening to the Rockies game Friday evening. Half the time or more they were talking about other stuff like who’s pitching Sunday, all the trades around the league, etc. Is this what listeners want?
Vin is getting up there in years, so you know, his mind wanders. We forgive legends such things.
I agree, I *hate* it when the announcers go wandering off. Drives me batty.
My local announcers are pretty good, both former players, so I learn a lot about the game while they talk.
And then there’s Jon Miller. I could listen to him tell stories for *hours*. And he does a mean Vin Scully impression too! 🙂
