I just went to the link and they changed the article to read, “Authorities say former NFL star Steve McNair had a blood-alcohol level twice Tennessee’s legal limit for driving when his girlfriend shot him to death.”
So was he passed out when she blasted him.

And ESPN continues to report it. Just heard it on SportsCenter that he was “over twice the legal limit for driving.”
Wasn’t he sitting on the couch in his own living room? If there is anyplace where it is acceptable to be drunk, that would be it.
