It was great in its time as a spectacle and, for then, bold political commentary. That was a loooong time ago.
It’s one of those movies that is great, but no one ever watches it. Hollywood loves self-important epics. It gave Ghandi the Oscar over ET, just for example.
It is a movie that requires a very large screen. I have never seen it at home, but suspect the visuals suffer when reduced to 50″.
