The penultimate day of June and so far this year we’ve had just nine days (4 in May, 5 in June) where the maximum official temperature has reached 90º F; 92º (twice) is the highest temp this summer so far.
My electric bill for the month ending June 25th was $25.02.
But the humidity this past week in ABQ and Rio Rancho (high for us here at least) has made it miserable for those with swamp coolers.
My swamp cooler sits quietly neglected. I haven’t connected it this year — yet. My little rule (aka procrastination tool) each year is I don’t get it going until it’s 90. I wasn’t in town when it hit 90 early in May. And last week when we got to 90 again, as you wrote Matt, it was so humid the cooler wouldn’t have worked decently anyway.
So yes, it’s been a little warm late in the afternoons, but with the storms around there’s been enough of a breeze I have been actually quite comfortable so far this summer without any cooling whatsoever. (I do have four ceiling fans.)
Though in all honesty it has felt good a few times to get in the car and let the a/c blast.
Oh for the wonderful coolness of New Mexico. We suffered in Texas this past weekend with heat around 101. And humidity to boot! It felt like 105. Didn’t get out much!! Oh and my electric bill last month was $295.00.
I hate you.
But we’re finally enjoying a respite from a couple of weeks of 90s plus humidity. It’s to be only 80 today. Brrrr….
