Is there anything I should know about Hulu?
Hulu is a web site that offers free TV shows and movies. (I just finished watching last night’s Daily Show and am now into a recent Simpsons.) There are a few short ads.

I love me some Hulu!!
Only time it let me down was for the Inauguration. They promised streaming, but I couldn’t get in there.
Other than that, they rock!
Since moving to a rural area in September, we have only had the 5 free networks most anyone can get. Cable is not an option, and I didn’t want to sign up for satellite knowing we would be moving again fairly soon. (If you move more than once in 12 months, they charge you $200.)
So, I started watching a lot of TV on the internet. However, I watch it on the individual network sites: ABC, NBC, CBS, USA, TNT, PBS, etc., etc. They all have their current shows, as well as some back episodes, up there for free. (Well, CBS could do better.) Since I no longer have DVR, and our reception isn’t good enough on most stations to record with a VCR, this is the way I see things I can’t watch when they are on, or if two shows I like are on at the same time.
Recently, I was trying to find out if I could pay to watch Showtime on my computer so I could keep up with Dexter, Tara, The Tudors, etc. No luck ordering it for the computer so far. (They do offer single whole episodes of their top shows as teasers, though.) However, I did discover that Qwest, my DSL provider, offers all the movies on Starz and Encore (over 2000) for free. (After three months it would cost about $7 a month, but I’ll be moved and back on satellite by then.)
I highly recommend watching TV on the computer, if you have a decent screen and a comfortable chair. The commercials are far fewer, and they usually only last for 15 or 30 seconds. You can pause, reverse, fast forward, etc., just like you can with DVR, and it’s FREE!!
Well, it is an evil plot to destroy the world, as their Super Bowl commercial said.
I love Hulu. Last Sunday I hunkered down in my chair and watched the entire first season of Damages. I was obsessed and didn’t get anything done. While the family was a little perturbed with me, I was in heaven. What a way to waste a day…lol!
Loved it!
