The Tesla Motors electric roadster does 0-60 in 3.7 sec, and everyone thought that was amazing until Shelby, Venturi, and several others came pretty close in quick succession.
Incidently Indy has experimented with it, but decided that the dangers weren’t sufficiently well-understood. Lots of caustic acids and high voltage power lines doing unpredictable things in an accident. There may or may not soon be a parallel competition series.
