I read this article this morning. How incredibly uplifting, that in one person’s lifetime this country has changed in ways he could never have imagined, and how incredibly sad, that his wife didn’t live to see it come to fruition.
Oh, I know fruition is ambitious – we still have a long way to go, and although Obama is black he is not the descendant of slaves, and not really representative of those who have been disenfranchised for so long. But the election has given me, to steal a phrase, the audacity of hope.
