  1. I was leaning towards Brown v. Board of Education…actually I’m not sure if that was the case name, but the case where they decided Separate But Equal wasn’t OK.

Or what about their ruling on the results of the 2000 elections? Again, I can’t remember the case name, but it certainly was an important (and recent) decision.

Then there’s the Guantanamo detainees/habeas corpus decision. I could tell you a host of issues they’ve recently rendered decisions on, but couldn’t name the cases. But…I’m not running for Vice President. I’m sure I could name more justices than she could.

  2. Oops. I didn’t mean to imply that I didn’t agree with those decisions (some I did, some I didn’t). It’s just that in the clip I saw, she didn’t seem familiar with the Supreme Court at all. Of course, what can you expect from someone who, when asked which newspapers she reads regularly answers “all of them”…I bet she could pick a favorite flavor of ice cream though.

  3. I am so glad you are back online. I have missed your insights during the recent events. I count on you and Jon Stewart for my news. 🙂
That fact aside, I immediately thought of Plessy v. Ferguson when I heard the question. I rattled off something about it to my husband off the top of my head about the doctrine of seperate but equal that stood until Brown v. Board of Education. It then frightened me very much that I, a regular working mom no smarter than the average bear, was more informed about the history of US jurisprudence than someone who has a reasonable chance of being a heartbeat away from the presidency. We have truly fallen through the looking glass.
NewMexiken, please dont abandon us again during these turbulent times. Your presence and insights are a comfort for those of us not under the Palin spell.

  4. It’s not “a heartbeat away.” It’s “a 72-year-old heartbeat away.”

    Thanks for the kind words.
