‘Strongly disapprove’

Fifty percent of Americans now say they strongly disapprove of President George W. Bush’s performance as president. This marks the highest percentage of Americans strongly disapproving of his performance since Bush came into office. Although Gallup has not measured the intensity of job approval regularly over the years, this “strongly disapprove” number is among the highest Gallup has measured for presidents, going back to Lyndon Johnson.

An additional 14% disapprove, just not so strongly. 31% approve, about half of them “strongly.”

  1. Where the hell have these people been? It takes almost 7 years to figure out that Bush is incompetent? Anybody with a lick of common sense should have been able to figure that out prior to Iraq, prior to Katrina, prior to Scooter, prior to..ad infinitum, ad nauseum….

  2. How about: prior to the election in 2000? I mean, when has he ever shown any competence at anything?

  3. I always felt that people were either complacent, disinterested, held an aversion to politics or whatever, but the numbers in these polls always surprise me. 30% still seems pretty high to me. I sometimes wonder how the chips would fall if the shoe was on the other foot because if it mirrored these results it would imply that only 40% of the country actually cares about the state of the country.
