Isn’t the Rio a bit…yucky for such a thing? Sure, it’s cleaner in ABQ than in El Paso where they do have a bit of a river walk and you can see all sorts of flotsam, jetsam and dead bodies float by…
But still…I love the Rio but she ain’t very pretty…..:)
Indeed, the Rio Grande is muddy below the Chama.
But when I’ve hacked my way through the weeds and brush of the bosque I’ve usually found the river itself to be a delight.
More than the Sandias, the Rio Grande is what makes Albuquerque special — or could.
Even Tempe, AZ, which doesn’t have a flowing river, has a river walk with a river. I bet a Rio Grande River Walk could be done with out a bit of taxpayers money.

It runs for about five miles along the waterfront, and gets longer all the time as more land is added.
