Top Ten Reasons I Read NewMexiKen

10. The now-defunct Week Quiz and its successors.
9. There’s a page dedicated to Ron Howard’s brother.
8. Every day is somebody’s birthday.
7. I’ve been reading for so long I feel like the Sweeties and I are growing up together.
6. NMK is the hippest (and smartest) grandfather I know of.
5. I’m reminded of all the American history I’ve forgotten since high school.
4. NMK reads the rest of the Internet so I don’t have to.
3. There’s always something new.
2. He links to me.
1. Wisdom, whimsy, and wit: three things the Internet needs more of.

Happy anniversary, NewMexiKen, and many more.

  1. Except for #2, I totally agree with them all. And he does link to Mr. A so that’s pretty close. Some blogs I read I’ll skip a post or two because the subject matter just doesn’t interest me. But I read every word of NMK. Congrats on the anniversary.

  2. the world feels less crazy here.

the exile feels a sense of extended family and continuity here.

there’s a warm heart and a roving mind at work and at play here.

a gentle spirit guides one’s perception to wonderful, multifarious, and unexpected things here.

you can imagine crisp clear new mexican air here.

you can be a half-wit dumb ass, in broad daylight in front of everybody, and not be made to feel the lasting sting of humiliation here

    …most of the time 😉

  3. Congrats and Happy Anniversary, NewMexiken! Love reading the blog (you’re my homepage at the office, after all), clicking the links , seeing the Sweeties and much more. Keep up the good work!
