Finished God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens. Interesting. Very erudite. Will persuade the already persuaded.
Beginning The Assault on Reason by Al Gore.

perhaps the slippery ch can overcome his demons and attain the stature of an ingersoll; i can’t see it happening this week or any time soon. that title carries its own recantation.
I watched Oprah interview Cormac McCarthy today.
I thought he came off as kind of a jerk. I wanted to like him. His biggest priority in life was to “not work.” He was severely poor sometimes as a result. Through three marriages. Someone always came along to “help” him.
I like his books, though. Kinda sparse but his word usage is unique.
Oprah made him blush.
So, it was just another ho-hum day with Oprah.
😉
PS… her summer book is “Middlesex.” Interesting choice for fluffy, summer reading.
I just wanna say, “Oh… Oprah, Oprah, Oprah…”
I know McCarthy is a great writer and all, but to be honest I have never gotten very far in any of his books except All the Pretty Horses, which was first rate.
The Assault on Reason is next on my reading list, too.
