Madison? Ava?
You know, when I was pregnant with my son — in 1981 — my short list of girl names was:
1) Isabella
2) Sophia
3) Olivia
4) Evangeline
5) Annabelle
Who knew I was such a trendsetter waaay baaack when? Seriously. Those names were just CRAZY unusual in ’81.
My kids have Ava’s and Madison’s at their elementary school.
My sister in law gave birth this week to my first niece, who arrived 15 weeks early but who is strong and doing very well. Her name is Ava.
Ava is a classic. Remember Ava Gardner?
Yes, but not many people naming their daughters Ava are old enough to remember her.
I was going to name my second child Madison because that was my maiden name and I thought it would be a nice family link however that year Madison was in the top 5 girls names and I didnt want her to have a name that was quite so ubiquitous, nor did I want people asking if I named her after the mermaid in Splash. Hence, we named her Tate Madison since Tate wasnt in the top 500 of popular names, but now her full name sounds like a law firm.
