  1. I’ve lost a dear friend. It is the world’s loss that he never received the Nobel Prize he deserved. A lot more people would read him if he had the Nobel seal of approval.

I only met him once, about 10 years ago, and was astonished at his ability to be witty and coherent, after drinking two juice tumblers full of scotch.

After the bible, Shakespeare, my parents, and wife, Vonnegut has influenced my outlook more than anyone else.

Well, Vonnegut is in heaven now.

At Isaac Asimov’s funeral, Vonnegut said, “Well, Isaac is in heaven now.” Vonnegut were both former presidents of the American Humanist Association, wrote that this was the funniest thing he could think of to say to a gathering of humanists.

I can’t help but smile as I think of him.
