People are more stupid than anyone item of the day

• Nearly half of the 24 million households with HDTVs don’t actually watch high-definition programs because they lack an HDTV feed from either via cable or satellite

• 25% of those surveyed didn’t even realize they were watching non-HDTV transmissions

Of course, some may watch HDTV over-the-air for free as I do.

  1. But can you watch National Geographic, Discovery and some of the other networks that truly broadcast almost everything in HD? Our local channels have HD versions, but only one, for example, broadcasts their local news in HD. Just because something is on an HD channel doesn’t necessarily mean the program is in HD. Or taped/filmed in HD.

  2. I rarely watch the local news because whether the content is in HDTV or not, the content isn’t worth watching. One night in Tucson we watched the local news. The lead news story was about the protest over a school closing, only the school wasn’t closing. But I must admit the coverage was live, local and late breaking.

Network sports are in HDTV. Network shows mostly are. PBS (six feeds) is. All free.

No, I don’t get National Geographic or Discovery. But then again, it’s not costing me $75 a month either. Three TVs at Casa NewMexiKen, and none has been on since I watched “The Good Shepherd” DVD Saturday evening.

I do miss ESPN and HBO.
