Yeesh. Besides being contemptibly self righteous, the essay is a jumbled mess. How do you argue that married monogamy is the only way to live, then start the next paragraph with, “Nature is about continuation of the species”? The desire for the second – or at least a facsimile thereof – often becomes the downfall of the first.
hard to tell when gk is being tongue-in-cheek, a devil’s advocate, or otherwise ironical. he also lets his mind wander naturally and surprises himself and us with unexpected territory. but this particular piece struck me as odd, as tho he’d had a mild stroke before sitting down to the keyboard.
