  1. Oh, thank goodness you are back. I’ve missed you.
    Is lent over already? πŸ˜‰
We had a little Oscar party last night. It was all about the snacks for us. (Just like the Super Bowl…)
I lost count of how many times I didn’t call it right. But then, I’d only seen a couple of the movies. My best guesses weren’t so on last night.
    But the cheesecake was fabulous.

  2. Yes, it all came down to Best Picture in our pool – and NewMexiKen got it right, thereby acing me out of the top spot in our pool by one point.

Getting 17 right was a particular achievement this year, when there were so many upsets. Entertainment Weekly magazine only got 12 right out of 24.

I may have only gotten 16 right…but at least I got Alan Arkin! πŸ™‚

  3. The only two films that won an award which I even saw were “An Inconvenient Truth” and “Little Miss Sunshine.” I never even heard of the film that got best picture, let alone a couple other of the nominees for best film. I guess I am really out of the flow. Naturally, I could not have predicted many winners.

  4. Whew. Glad you’re back.

I didn’t watch the Oscars, but I saw a photo of Helen Mirren at CNN yesterday, and all I can say is YAAAY! She’s so DREAMY.

  5. There are plenty of years where the majority of the Best Picture nominees are pretty obscure and out of the mainstream. But The Departed made almost $132 million dollars at the box office, and stars three of the biggest film stars on the planet.

And yes, Helen Mirren is dreamy.

  6. I’m late here, but I like MildChild and Jill’s dream better than yours. Nothing against Beyonce, but when she’s next to Helen Mirren I don’t see how it’s even a contest.
