What’s with this winter?

NewMexiKen is just two weeks away from having resided in Albuquerque for eight years. And this is the first time I remember winter just well, how do I put it, acting like winter. Usually we’d get a cold snap, even a little snow, and then boom, the sun came out, it hit 50°F and life went on.

But here we are this winter, the temperature not even breaking 40° this week. And the prediction is for 5 to 8 inches of snow in the next 18-24 hours.

More snow, bah humbug.

I’m going back to Tucson and staying until it hits 90°.

  1. It’s not much better here in Tucson. My thermometer didn’t get above 48 today, and rain all day. I can see the snow covering the mountains, but i suspose I don’t have to deal with the stuff. I’m waiting until your snow melts before I come to visit!

  2. Which will be, what? The first week of February? lol No thanks! I had the choice of going back to Tucson or moving to ABQ and I chose ABQ because there are, at the very least, four distinctive seasons. In Tucson, it’s either hot, or… um… hot. It is all relative, of course, as anything under 65 degrees felt cold to me when I lived there.
Imagine my shock when I got to Chicago!
Snow Schmow! I’ll see it when I believe it.
    Or something like that.
    🙂

  3. Hey, I’ve had snow in my yard here in Portland, OR for 9 straight days. I’ve been here for coming up on 13 years and I haven’t seen this before.

Generally it snows and in 24 hours there isn’t a trace.

And according to Leno they got so confused in Malibu they were trying to chop up the snow with razor blades.

  4. It’s finally snowing in VA!!!

It’s beautiful and my kids are standing at the windows with their eyes wide.
