We’ve got work to do

A friend, the chief operating officer for an organization of nearly 1,000 people, visited the doctor today for what turned out to be a sinus infection. The doctor kept asking her if she needed a doctor’s excuse or a request for time off while she recovered. She assured him she did not.

And in her mind kept thinking, “Quit being so free with those things.”

  1. How sad that he thought someone in her position might need that kind of permission. Unless the piece is about “presenteeism” — people working sick who should have stayed home, because there is no one at work to cover them.

  2. Michelle, I think that doctor was just being considerate knowing how sick she was. He didn’t know her (Urgent Care). And she has worked both days since.
