No. 1 Ohio State played No. 4 Florida in one NCAA football semifinal.
And then No. 2 USC met No. 3 Michigan in the other.
And then the winners played for the championship one week later.
And then … our alarm clock went off.

A very good start.
What I’d like even better would be #1 Ohio State vs. #8 Boise State, #2 USC vs. #7 Wisconsin, #3 Michigan vs. #6 Louisville and then #4 Florida vs. #5 LSU.
Any team that falls below the top 8 probably doesn’t have much of an argument for appearing in the championship game anyway. This arrangement would give all the really top teams a shot at the title. Top seeds host the games.
Imagine a second round with #1 Ohio State hosting #4 Florida and #2 USC hosting #2 Michigan.
Think of the interest and TV revenue this would generate, not to mention the gate.
Of course there is still one more week after which this lineup could still be shaken up. A USC loss to UCLA this weekend could make the selection process a lot more difficult.
And miss their exams?
Miss their exams? What’s your point? LOL
Perhaps players from those 8 universities I mentioned could make arrangements to take their finals with the players from the 16 Division II universities that will be competing in their legitimate annual playoff.
The playoff Division II universities have each year as opposed to the BCS (Bowl Crap-Shoot) whereby a committee hopes and prays every year that there will be two and only two undefeated teams from the six big money conferences at the end of the regular college season, and that Boise State will lose at least one game each year so they won’t have to hear the clamor from the small conferences.
