As the average temperatures have risen in recent years, a strong scientific consensus has formed that human-generated greenhouse gases are the primary cause. I think it is time we seriously considered a very likely alternative explanation.
What with so many baby-boomer women reaching menopause, perhaps what we’re really seeing is just the heat built-up from billions and billions of hot flashes.
Um. Not. Funny.
(it is unwise to annoy those with wildly fluctuating hormones, Mister Man)
Um. Very funny!
I’d just have to disagree with the bit about a “strong scientific consensus.” On the contrary, many well-respected climatologists disagree with the whole notion of man-made global warming. In fact, not everyone even agrees that things are getting warmer. Here is a long, well written refutation. Here is a shorter debunking of Gore’s propaganda piece.
NewMexiKen, you’re old enough to remember that in the 70s, the big scare was global winter–what happened to that? Oh, maybe that went away because we realized that we’ve come out of a mini-ice age, and temeperatures go up after ice ages.
Was anyone else paying attention when they were talking about the dinosaurs? I seem to recall them saying that the earth was much warmer during the age of the dinosaurs. Was it because of T. Rex’s penchant for SUVs?
Global warming is, at best, semi-scientific scare-mongering. At worst, it’s politically-driven junk science.
Your source (both links) is an author and creator of comic books.
Yes, he is a writer. Does the fact that he is talented in both writing and drawing make what he has to say worthless?
Beyond that, look at who he quotes in his posts, like “Dr. Robert C. Balling Jr., a professor in the climatology program at Arizona State University.” He’s bringing together significant ideas from reliable sources.
I wouldn’t go to a comic-book author to get my eyes checked. By the same token, neither would I go to a washed-up politician for my science. I’ll take this erudite comic-book writer, and his sources, any day over Albert Jr. and his propaganda.
Sorry Squidley, but NewMexiKen graduated from the University of Arizona, so Arizona State professors are suspect, too. 🙂
