In New Mexico the top 5 names for boys were Joshua, Isaiah, Jacob, Daniel and Elijah. For girls Alyssa, Emily, Madison, Isabella and Destiny.

Two of my girlfriends had babies this year. Both sons were named Jacob, and both would have been named Hannah had they been girls. My youngest brother (15) is named Jacob, and he also would have been Hannah if he had been a girl.
My son, born in 1983, would have been either Isabel or Olivia had he been a girl (I never had to choose between the two as I found out I was having a boy pretty early on). I was ahead of my time!
