In all the days I’ve watched college football (since the days of O.J. and before) I’ve never seen a team with a backfield as incredible as the Trojan’s tandem of Reggie Bush and Lendale White.
I think White is overshadowed by Bush and there are lots of folks who still don’t realize just how great a running back he is.
Today he set the USC career record for touchdowns with his 54th. He’s a junior. Think of all the great players who have played at USC over the years (Only Notre Dame has more Heisman winners, until Bush gets his next week, then the schools are tied with seven) and White has more touchdowns than any of them.
Bush is also a junior but I believe the cat’s out of the bag and I think he’ll be in a Fortyniner uniform next season. What a pity. It would be special to see Bush and White as running mates in the ’06 campaign.
