Best line of the day, period

“Mr. Altshuler and Mr. Rhode had worked in the White House’s Office of National Advance Operations. Those are the people who decide where the president will stand on stage and which loyal supporters will be permitted into the audience – and how many firefighters will be diverted from rescue duty to surround the president as he patrols the New Orleans airport trying to look busy.”

  1. It’s not as though Bush isn’t doing anything. He did declare September 16 a national day of prayer after all. That should help an awful lot.

  2. My vote for best line of the day goes to NBC News’ Brian Williams. Williams, speaking to Jon Stewart on the September 8 edition of “The Daily Show” was talking about his on the air interview with FEMA’s Mike Brown, four days after Katrina, when he asked “why not an air lift,” saying he had watched the Third Infantry do it do it in Iraq. “Why not pallets of MREs and water?”

Brown said “that’s a good question.”

Williams went on to tell Jon Stewart the Ted Koppel picked it up on nightline and went and “had at him like a pinata that night.”

  3. OK, what’s up with the formatting on the comment field? The wrap extends beyond the window and I can’t read what I’ve written nor can I properly edit it.

I am a better writer than my previous comment would indicate.
