Should they lift the ban on cell phone use on airplanes?

  1. Lifting the ban on cell phones on airplanes seems, well, stupid. Why would having dozens of people scream into their cell phones in the middle of the air sound like a good idea? People talk loudly enough into their cell phones on the ground (a good many number yell into their phones) where background noise is, comparitively, very low. Once you add all the noise of the airplane, I can guarantee that most people would yell into their phone. And yelling into your phone in a crowded, confined space doesn’t strike me as the best way to make friends.

On the other hand, airlines could charge people up the wazoo to use a cell phone “tower” on the plane. Since it involves making money, lifting on the ban will no doubt be seen as a good idea by the powers that be.
