“A bill to limit the public’s right to sue the food industry for obesity or other medical conditions moved through a [New Mexico] Senate committee Friday.”
According to a story in The New Mexican, the bill is called the “Right to Eat Enchiladas Act.”
Well, I support individual rights, but I’m not entirely certain this is for individuals.
It protects restaurants from lawsuits, correct? Thus limiting the power of the courts and the individual.
But I agree with the legislation; suing someone because you’re fat seems to be a Bunyanesque waste of time and an abuse of the court system. The real solution in that case would be to eat less and exercise more, not sue to get money.
