As a Virginian, I like to think of the solstice as the beginning of the end of winter, rather than the beginning of winter. Hereafter, the days are officially getting longer, and the Northern Hemisphere is beginning its gradual warm-up. The days of spring are coming! 🙂
Of course, in some respects, winter is when we really know that we are alive. There is nothing like a bitterly frosty breeze to tell me to get moving! Regardless, the winter solstice is not as bad as it’s reputation!
