And they’re the Red Sox. If your team is named after hosiery, shouldn’t the hosiery show? Some of those guys have pants that actually hook under the heel of their shoe.
I agree the helmets are disgusting. However, if you were a baseball player, would you want your “hosiery” to show?
Icky maybe, but heck they’re working! Can you imagine how much trouble the equipment manager would be in if she decided to clean all the helmets so that they’d glow for the Series. Pine tar from an entire winning season gone to waste. That might be enough to push the Cardinals to victory.
I say let them have their superstitions. It wouldn’t be baseball without crazy superstitious players.
