The last time I was in Telluride was 1986. It was The Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
I remember on Saturday night The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was on stage. They reminded everyone that it was the summer solstice and that there was a full moon that night, and that the full moon only happens on the solstice about every 36 years or something like that.
At about 10:00 The full moon finally rose over the 14ers to the east. One could see it approaching for quite a while. I watched as the last tiny piece popped up from behind the craggy peak.
That was when 10,000 people, most of whom had been partying non-stop for three days, began to howl at the moon.

It was jolly good fun.
