Hell I did better than that! I was born in 1946 and was in prime line for the draft along with the leading edge of babyboomers. But I was born a girl and therefore free of any obligation to do service to my country.
That little oversight has now been corrected so if the draft comes up again, and if you know who gets really elected this time he will be chomping at the bit to throw other people’s kids at another war.
Hard to see how the draft won’t be implemented with the losses and the amount of time our guys are spending in combat areas. But if the Texan (by way of Connecticut, prep schools etc) does his usual macho thing and dises our allies we are lone wolves again.
No child left behind.
Too true, Lunch Lady and Lee…Last night I told my 18 year, high school senior son to get into college no matter what, just in case a college deferment is a possibility, which I doubt. My thinking is that Bush and the lying criminals who advise him want to avoid the draft issue for this election. Once they are elected (selected) again, one way or another, all constraints are off. The draft will be reinstated, as a necessity in their evil minds, so they can continue their screwed up, 21st century crusade. Will the sons and daughters of the rich and powerful die in foreign lands? No f’in way.
