Phew!
As each day and week go by however, I must admit I am finding it more and more difficult to continue. Blogger burn out I suppose.
And if I get bored doing this, surely you, the readers, will get bored with me.
So, if you care, now would be a good time to encourage me with a few words about why you visit.
The site is free. I don’t have a tip jar or a gift wish list and I don’t have ads. At least this once I would like you to make a contribution with your suggestions, thoughts, complaints, ideas; hell, even your prayers.
I promise not to whimper again for another year.
Keep up the good work!
I’ve only been reading you for a month of so, but felt at once that I had found a kindred spirit in the state to south of where I live.
Here’s to another year.
I, for one, enjoy your blog immensely, and I generally check it every day, if not a couple times a day. Not only that, it gives me something to do when it gets painfully slow at work. Also, whenever I want to check out something at Amazon, I open NewMexiKen first and click on the link, because I seem to remember that you get a little kickback from that. I’d hate to see your blog disappear, but I do understand about burn-out. I’d sure miss seeing the Sweeties every day, though.
“I hate graveyards and old pawnshops
for they always bring me tears
I can’t forgive the way they robbed me
of my childhood souveniers.”
John Prine
I really think NewMexiKen is the best of what a blog should be. It’s a nice mix of pointed barbs, entertainment and an insight into Ken and what it’s like to live in Albuquerque (without the dry heat).
And, of course, pictures of the sweeties.
I visit your site at least once a day and enjoy it immensly! Don’t give up! I have suffered the burnout thing myself and I only blog one post each weekday, so I can only imagine the pressure on you!!
One other thought:
Blogging is low-carb
Does this have anything to do with the interview for ABQ the Mag? If so, I felt exactly the same way afterwards. Something about overly-defining the act of blogging. Ignore this. Blogging is about your online readers of whom there are thousands. I personally read NewMexiKen multiple times a day! Hang tough.
Ken-
You’re an honest-to-god blog success story.
You gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe you should take each weekend off, like Joe Monahan does.
Don’t give up. Your eclectic would be missed by many.

Insert the word ‘mix’ after eclectic. I got distracted by brushing so close to Pika. mjh
N.M. Ken:
You are a must-read each day because of your varied (I see that somebody already used the word eclectic) mix of commentary, history, sports, entertainment and current events.
And, as Democratic pundits go, you’re certainly much easier on the eye than James Carville is.
I enjoy the comments almost as much as the blogs.
You seem to attract an intelligent group of readers.
“5,136 unique visitors (or at least unique computers) from 50 different countries visited NewMexiKen 10,099 times in July.”
Need I say more… I mean quote more?
I should have such devoted readers. Happy birthday.
Look at it this way- someone has to represent this part of the country out in the blogosphere, and I can’t think of a better person to do it. Your website is always fun and informative, and it is never, ever boring. Thanks for bringing us this blog and keep up the good work.
