was born in Conyers, Georgia, on this date in 1958.
Miss Hunter has been nominated for an Academy Award four times, twice for best actress and twice for supporting actress. She won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Piano in 1993. She has also won Emmys for Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom and Roe vs. Wade.
You can’t mention Holly Hunter without also mentioning the movie Broadcast News, one of my all time favorites. One of the best scenes has got to be when Holly Hunter’s character, Jane, is talking to a network exec and he asks her, “It must be nice to always believe you know better, to always think you’re the smartest person in the room.” Jane responds, “No, it’s awful.”
And, William Hurt, Holly Hunter’s co-star in Broadcast News, was also born on March 20th. Go figure. [Originally posted: March 22.]
