I was most excited about the Apple TV revamp, though less so now that I see they;'re capping output at 720p. Still pretty awesome, but if I have full high-def content (1080p) on my system and I'm using my own bandwidth, I'd prefer to see it that way.

Still, as ubiquitous as the iPod has come, it's fun to see what Apple is doing with the brand. The new nano looks pretty cool.

Through the lens of an expatriate, much of this list applies equally to New Mexico in general as to Albuquerque. I miss the Gila (the River and the National Forest and the Wilderness), the Burros and the Black Range, the Catwalk and the City of Rocks and the Cliff Dwellings. I miss the winding mountain roads and the pristine grassland stretches of highway—those vast wastelands of beauty ringed with peaks and plateaus in the distance. I miss the damn horizon, and that feeling of awe and insignificance that sweeps over you when New Mexico shows you eternity in the distance.

I miss the connection with your neighbors, that wave from the stranger driving past you on the road or the quick conversation while waiting in line for coffee at the local shop.

Ken: why don't I live there?

We camp for a month each summer, spending most of that time at Glacier National Park. Summer home, indeed.

You used to refer to him pretty much exclusively as The Good Man or TGM. I see now that when he rants he's just "Husband." :-)

David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest
contains something similar to your idea. The world of his novel has years named by corporations: Year Of Depends Adult Undergarment, Year of The Dove Trial Size Bar, and so on.

All those people hate us. They hate us for our freedom, they hate us because we are Christians. In order to keep America safe, we have to kill those people before they kill us. God is on our side and wants us to save the World from these towel heads.
